These Terms of Service govern your use of Lad, a calorie and macro tracking app. By using Lad, you agree to these terms.

1. Use of the App

Lad allows you to log food using typed descriptions, scans, barcodes, menu parsing, and saved items. The app provides calorie and macro estimates, food analysis, and tracking tools.

You agree to use the app only for its intended purpose and in compliance with applicable laws.

2. Accounts

Lad requires account access. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account, including your email and authentication credentials.

You are responsible for all activity under your account.

3. Accuracy of Results

Lad provides calorie, macro, and food analysis results based on user input, food databases, and AI models.

Results are estimates and are not guaranteed to be accurate. Written entries, food photos, and menu scans may produce approximate results.

You should verify important information independently before relying on it.

4. Not Medical Advice

Lad is not a medical, nutritional, or health service.

The app does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. You should not rely on Lad for health or medical decisions.

5. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • providing accurate food descriptions, images, and inputs;
  • verifying results before relying on them;
  • ensuring you have the right to upload any images or content;
  • properly managing any API keys you enter into the app.

6. Third-Party Services

Lad depends on third-party services including AI processing, food databases, barcode lookup services, authentication services, and analytics providers.

These services may affect the availability, speed, or accuracy of the app.

Lad does not control these services and is not responsible for their performance, availability, or data handling.

7. Limitations and Availability

The app may not always be available or function correctly.

Features such as scanning, analysis, and lookups may fail due to network issues, third-party service limitations, or technical errors.

Lad may change, update, or remove features at any time.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • misuse scanning or upload features;
  • submit content you do not have rights to;
  • attempt to reverse engineer or interfere with the app;
  • abuse or overload third-party services used by the app;
  • attempt to bypass limits or protections built into the app.

9. Content

You may create and store content such as food logs, images, menu scans, and feedback.

You retain ownership of your content. By using the app, you grant Lad permission to process that content as needed to provide app functionality.

10. Data Loss

Lad stores data locally and may rely on external services.

Data may be lost due to deletion, app resets, account changes, or technical issues.

Lad is not responsible for loss of stored data.

11. No Warranty

Lad is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.

There is no guarantee that the app will be accurate, reliable, secure, or available at all times.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lad and its developer are not liable for any damages resulting from use of the app, including reliance on inaccurate data, service interruptions, or data loss.

13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of California, excluding conflict of law rules, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

If a dispute arises out of or relates to these Terms or your use of Lad, you agree to contact Lad first at ladappsupport@gmail.com so the parties can try to resolve it informally.

If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or Lad will be resolved by binding arbitration on an individual basis, except that either party may bring an eligible claim in small claims court and either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief for misuse of the app or intellectual property. The arbitration will be conducted in English by a single neutral arbitrator under the rules of a mutually agreed arbitration provider, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you and Lad waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action, class arbitration, or representative proceeding.

14. Changes to Terms

These Terms may be updated over time. Continued use of the app means you accept any updated Terms.
